Compare the Subaru Ascentto the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander

As you start your search for a new SUV with the right features, considering the right model to match your needs can be a difficult decision. For instance, drivers looking for advanced technology features, a spacious interior, and more can find numerous models to suit their lifestyle - like the Subaru Ascent.

The Ascent is the only three-row SUV in the Subaru lineup, but that doesn't mean it has no competition. Drivers around Philadelphia might find that the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander offer an array of innovative features that might sway you one way or the other. To help you make an informed decision, we've compared the Subaru Ascent to the Pilot and Highlander below. Explore how the Pilot makes your adventures better than its two rivals, and let us know if you would like to learn more about the lineup today!

Subaru Ascent vs. Honda Pilot

The Subaru Ascent's new infotainment system boasts exciting new upgrades, giving you plenty of enjoyment for your morning commute. The Subaru Ascent comes standard with a new Subaru STARLINK®11.6-inch Multimedia Plus system, featuring an 11.6-inch touchscreen and wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ smartphone integration. The Honda Pilot currently only features an eight-inch touchscreen and doesn't currently have wireless connectivity capability.

If you're looking to manage your drive confidently, both lineups offer all-wheel drive. However, the Subaru Ascent holds the edge here, thanks to the standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. The lineup comes standard with this confidence-inspiring system that provides improved traction control and handling when you need it most. While the Honda Pilot offers a similar system, you'll need to pay more to have it equipped.

A three-row SUV should have plenty of space to store your camping gear and shopping successes. With the Honda Pilot, you'll get up to 16.5 cubic feet of storage space with all seats upright and up to 83.9 cubic feet with the rear seats folded flat. The Subaru Ascent is a roomier option, offering 17.8 cubic feet and 86.5 cubic feet, respectively.

Subaru Ascent vs. Toyota Highlander

Once again, you'll find the Subaru Ascent outperforming its rival regarding engine capability. The Toyota Highlander comes standard with a 3.5-liter V6, making 295 horsepower and 263 pound-feet of torque. While it does manage more horsepower than the Ascent, the Subaru SUV offers more pound-feet of torque, allowing you to accelerate quicker than its Toyota rival. The Highlander also requires you to pay more to equip the capable all-wheel drive system available to its lineup - you won't have to consider the same thing when you drive the Subaru Ascent as all the models come standard with Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive.

It's hard for any lineup to compete with the available cargo room in the Subaru Ascent - even the Highlander has difficulty trying to pack the same materials in its less spacious interior. With the rear seats up, the Highlander offers only 16 cubic feet of cargo space to the Ascent's 17.8 cubic feet. Behind the second row, the Ascent offers 47.5 cubic feet, and 86.5 behind the first row of seats. The Highlander can only offer 48.4 cubic feet and 84.3 cubic feet, respectively.

Safety packages come standard on both models, providing lane change assist, adaptive cruise control, and more to help guide you home safely. However, the Subaru Ascent also comes standard with LED Steering Assist Headlights and offers Reverse Automatic Braking - you won't find similar headlights standard on the Highlander and Reverse Automatic Braking is not available.
