Compare the Subaru Forester to the Volkswagen Tiguan and Nissan Rogue
Discover a more enjoyable way to travel. When you climb behind the wheel of the Subaru Forester from Ciocca Subaru of Philadelphia, you're one step closer to greatness. This incredible SUV is your ticket to all things awesome. Travel the city streets or take things off-road. However bold your dreams of adventure may be, the Subaru Forester is there to support you every step of the way.
Subaru Forester vs. VW Tiguan
The Subaru Forester and VW Tiguan offer unique experiences. If you want more confidence in all-weather and off-roading situations, the Forester is your ultimate family adventure vehicle. It's spacious, with more cargo capacity than the Tiguan, and equipped with standard all-wheel drive, which is a more expensive add-on for the Tiguan. The VW Tiguan offers a more powerful engine and sporty driving feel, but it's better suited to paved roads and fun to drive in the city. However, the Forester is better suited for outdoor adventures and offers better fuel efficiency than the Tiguan's all-wheel drive model.
The Tiguan may feel a bit more polished, but the Forester has consistently been awarded the top safety award from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) for many years. The Tiguan offers similar safety and driver assistance features like Adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation, and blind-spot monitoring, but the Forester goes above and beyond with superior crash ratings, standard symmetrical all-wheel drive, and the exclusive DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation.
In the Subaru Forester, the focus on safety carries over to convenience technology like the brilliant 11.6-inch infotainment system. Subaru has taken special care to ensure the user experience is as easy and responsive as possible, with minimal driver distractions while using the system. Reviewers continuously point out the cluttered and stressful feel of the Tiguan's infotainment system, even though it boasts upgrades like Google Built-In on certain models.
Subaru Forester vs. Nissan Rogue
The Subaru Forester also outperforms the Nissan Rogue with more robust off-road capabilities and standard features. The ground clearance is higher, even on the standard models, and is further enhanced with the Wilderness trim, which boasts a ground clearance that is a full inch higher than the Rogue. The Rogue's standard turbocharged three-cylinder engine slightly outperforms the Forester's four-cylinder engine, but not by much.
If you need to tow anything, we recommend the Wilderness trim, which has a higher towing capacity of 3,500 pounds, while all Rogue models are limited to 1,500 pounds. For even greater fuel efficiency, the Forester is also available as a hybrid, while the Rogue is not.
The Forester and Rogue are very close in size, but the Forester feels more spacious because it is slightly taller. Passengers have a generous amount of overhead space, and there is more road visibility due to narrower pillars, which makes the cabin feel airy. Both SUVs offer conveniences like a foot-activated rear liftgate when the key fob is close by and ample rear cargo storage.
There are a handful of great tech and comfort features available in some Forester models that you will not find in the Rogue. One of these features is rear-seat heating, which is available on the Forester Limited and Touring trims. Only the highest trim level for the Rogue offers heating for the rear seats. Another feature is wireless Apple CarPlay© and Android Auto™. All Forester models feature wireless smartphone integration and a wireless charging pad, but the Rogue charges extra for the same standard features.
